Welcome to the Community Edition News Tips. It is exciting to see our user numbers increase. We trust you are finding BI+CE easy to use and a helpful platform for your business intelligence needs.
In these early days of the launch of our Community Edition of BI+, we discovered that our activation server was not catering for time zone differences. This has been fixed, so we encourage any of you who have struggled to activate to reactivate your environment.
3 Tips & Pointers to utilize BI+CE to its full potential.
Activating your environment:
You will need your forum user name and password. If you have forgotten these, there is a section on the forum to reset your password.
Connecting to your Access data source:
Create an ODBC DSN data source name on the server hosting BI+CE.
In BI+CE use the ODBC driver name
In the connection URL click example and chose ODBC DSN drive and over-write the ‘dsn_name’ with your defined DSN.
Click test connection
3. Protecting your SQL Server from page locking
Once you have created your SQL Server data source, go to properties.
Add 2 SQL type properties:
Set transaction isolation level read uncommitted
Set nocount on
Click OK
Now your queries will be in true read-only mode and not hold onto any Sql Server resources or locks after the dataset has returned.
